General

• This event is rain or shine. Rib Fest eggs will be set up under tent.
• Vehicles must be parked in designated area.
• Ribs must be cooked on Big Green Egg provided.
• No alcoholic beverages allowed at event.
• Contestants are not allowed to solicit or promote any business during the event.
• Each contestant may have 1 assistant.
• Contestants must be at least 18 years of age.

Cooking

Delano True Value provides Large Big Green Egg, Plate Setter, two racks of ribs and charcoal. Contestants must provide everything else needed including utensils, seasoning, meat thermometer, basting brushes, chairs, etc.

Contestants must abide by health and safety regulations.

Event Schedule
9:00 – 9:45 am	Registration and set up
10:00am	Cook off begins. Each contestant receives 2 racks of ribs
3:00 – 3:30pm	Contestants turn in ribs for judging
4:00pm	Judging complete. Contestant winners announced

Judging

• Contestant will submit one rack of ribs with at least 4 bones, ready for judging.
• No garnish allowed. Sauce and glaze is acceptable.
• Judging will be based on appearance (20%), tenderness (30%) and taste (50%).
• In the event of a tie, the taste score will be used as a tiebreaker. If a tie remains the winner will be determined by a coin toss.
• Delano True Value (DTV) reserves the right to resolve any contest disputes or issues at its own discretion.

RibFest Grand Champion Rules

The contestant with the most points wins a Big Green Egg Mini Max!

• Contestant must compete in at least 3 Rib Fest competitions. Qualifying competitions are Navarre Rib Fest , Delano Rib Fest, Lake Minnetonka Rib Fest, and Rogers Rib Fest.
• If contestant enters all 4 rib fest events the highest 3 scores will be used. The lowest score will be discarded.
• Registration at each event must be in the same person’s name with the same individual competing at all events. Limited to 1 entry per person.
• Scoring will be as follows:
  • 1st Place = 10 Grand Champion points
  • 2nd Place = 7 GC points
  • 3rd Place = 5 GC points
  • 4th Place = 3 GC points
  • 5th Place = 1 GC points
  If any contestant finishes a specific event in a tie, the event tiebreaker rules will apply.
• In the event of a tie for Grand Champion points the contestant with the highest judged score at any single event shall be declared winner. If there is still a tie the winner will be determined by coin flip.
• Rib Fest reserves the right to settle any disputes or discrepancies at its own discretion.

Hold Harmless Agreement

Contestant agrees that he/she shall assume full responsibility for all risks and liabilities arising from participation in BBQ Cook Off competition. Contestant shall indemnify and hold harmless Delano Hardware, Inc. d/b/a Delano True Value (DTV), and property owner and manager from liabilities arising from contestant‛s participation in competition.

Contestant understands that BBQ grills can be extremely hot and may result in serious injury if not used in accordance with manufacturer‛s instruction. Contestant fully accepts responsibility for all risk inherent with cooking on BBQ grill.

Contestant understands there will be NO REFUNDS of entry fees due to inclement weather or other occurrences beyond DTV control.

This form must be completed before registration for competition is accepted.

Contestant agrees, absent willful misconduct by DTV, to waive, release and discharge all claims of liability or cause of action, and will not assert any claim of liability (such as commencing a lawsuit) against DTV, property owner or manager in the event of an accident or mishap.

Contestant has read and agrees with this Hold Harmless Agreement. Contestant understands that this agreement is a legally binding contract.
